Isaac's First Bath

Traditionally, baby's first bath has always been a family affair. Isaac's first bath in the baby tub proved to be no different. Both Tatum and Owen were more than happy to help out, in fact, they insisted on it. They took turns scrubbing his head and soaping him up and did a fairly good job. Owen, after a bit wanted to join Isaac in his tub, but after a little distracting we were able to talk him out of it. Through all of this, Isaac was a good sport and I think may have even enjoyed himself a little.

Long Beach '09

What a difference a year makes! We recently returned to the Lighthouse Resort for our second annual family vacation to Long Beach. Isaac experienced his first vacation at just 9 days old! We probably wouldn't have chosen to go on vacation with a newborn, but this trip was planned before we knew we were pregnant and this year we invited my side of the family to join us. We didn't want to miss out on the fun and knew we had several extra sets of hands to help us out. Even though I spent a lot of my time in the condo caring for Isaac, I was glad we made the trek.

Lovin' on Isaac

There's certainly no doubt Isaac has been receiving plenty of loves from his big sister and brother!

Welcome Baby Isaac!

At 40 weeks and 4 days we welcomed Isaac into the world with the help of an elective induction. With just over 5 hours of labor, he was born July 29th at 12:49 am, weighing 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Less than 24 hours after his birth we were able to come home and have been truly enjoying getting accustomed to our new family of 5!

Both Tatum and Owen have handled the addition of their baby brother very well. When talking to his bro, Owen uses an adorable high pitched voice and usually refers to him as "cute baby" or "cute Isaac". Owen's interest in Isaac is brief, while Tatum is constantly wanting to hold/burp/carry/soothe her brother. I'm sure his "newness" will wear off, but in the meantime I'm trying to allow her to do as much as she would like to.

We are all doing really well, but the exhaustion is definitely starting to kick in. Scott has been doing a great job of keeping up with Tatum and Owen during the day so I can focus on Isaac and occasionally sneak in a nap. My only priority right now are my kiddos and I'm cherishing this precious time with our newborn...it goes by so darn fast!

All dressed up and ready to go home.

Still Pregnant...

Well, I made it to another doctor's appointment today and still no baby. Unless baby decides to make his entry into the world on his own accord, I'm scheduled to be induced on the 28th...he'll have to come out whether he wants to or not! I'm obviously very excited and anxious. At this point, I'm more than ready for his arrival. I still have a little hope that he'll decide to come on his own, but with my track record, perhaps it's not too likely. Only time will tell, I'll keep you posted.

Pregnancy Update!

We're almost there! I had my 38 week, 5 day appointment today and things are looking very promising. The doctor said she wouldn't be surprised if I went into labor on my own before my next appointment which is on the 23rd. I'm trying not to get my hopes too high, but I would really like to go into labor on my own this time. With both Tatum and Owen I was ultimately induced to get things going...Tatum was 6 days late and Owen arrived on his due date. I think I may start walking laps around my cul-de-sac to see if I can't get things moving!! Hopefully my next post is pictures of the newest member of our family!

Whatever Works

OK, so I knew the days of the kids going to sleep in their own beds in the same room couldn't possibly go smooth forever. At some point, I figured we would have to deal with a bump in the road. We've reached that bump! Owen has always been a great napper/sleeper, but lately seems to have been getting too much sleep. When I want him to go to bed at 8:00, he isn't quite tired enough to go to sleep. So, he either ends up in bed with me, or as of lately his sis. Here's a pic of them I snapped last night in Tatum's bed. My attitude at 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant (Yes! I'm counting the days) is whatever works!

Day Out With Thomas

We've been looking forward to this event for months! Owen is a HUGE Thomas The Train fan so we bought tickets for Day Out With Thomas so we could all enjoy a real train ride on Thomas. Here are a few pics from our day.

Owen's eyes were glued to the window the majority of the train ride. He was definitely overwhelmed with excitement!

Tatum was very exicted to meet Sir Topham Hatt, Owen wasn't quite sure.

Family pic with Thomas in the background. As you can see Owen couldn't take his eyes off Thomas.

Kidz Love Soccer

Today, I took Tatum to her very first soccer class. The soccer school is put on by an organization called Kidz Lover Soccer that teaches age appropriate soccer skills in a fun and non-competitive environment. Tatum was very excited for her first class today, especially because she was able to try out her new shin-guards and cleats. She had a great time and is already looking forward to her next class!

4th of July Parade

Here are a few pics from this years 4th of July Parade at Speebidah. The theme this year was Hawaiian Luau. Tatum was very into it, occasionally performing a hula dance for the spectators. Owen, on the other hand, was not really on board. Ultimately, we strapped him into the neighbors stroller and he rolled through the parade like that.
